What does Milton Keynes Scale Model Club do?

Milton Keynes Scale Model Club caters for anyone who is interested in making scale static models, from absolute beginner to seasoned expert.

Milton Keynes Scale Model Club meetings are on the fourth Wednesday of the month - except December, when it is on the third Wednesday. They are normally very informal, with most members chatting about their latest masterpiece. Sometimes members will put on a demonstration of a technique that is of interest.

Anybody is welcome to attend the above meetings. Click here for directions to Milton Keynes Scale Model Club. For more general details go to our Introduction page.

Our members build all types of models. The current types of models built include; aircraft, armour, ships, figures, cars and science fiction. The club prides itself in not being stuffy and "cliquey". Each month members bring along their latest model, often in a partially completed state, to show what they are working on. Often we can see how a model progresses over several meetings and discuss the merits, or otherwise, of different techniques. One of the things we like is to see how a model progresses during its construction so that others can see how it is done.

One of the strengths of the Milton Keynes Scale Model Club is the willingness of all the members to share their knowledge and experience with others. We all aim to help others improve their models and like to encourage the newcomer or old hand. We can show you how to make, paint it, finish it, weather it, put it into a diorama and display it. In short, you are sure to come away from every meeting having learned something new

Many of the members like to come and show their models at the various model shows throughout the year, culminating in the IPMS UK Nationals at Telford each November. Some try their luck on the competition tables and members have won their fair share of prizes. We have gained a good reputation over the fourteen plus years that the club has been going and try to get better each year. Not that the prime aim is to win "pots", but it's nice when other modellers think that your model is worthy of praise.

Milton Keynes Scale Model Club has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement by the IPMS(UK) national committee for our "time, effort and incredibly proactive approach. Dedication and commitment, not least for their wonderful demonstrations at various shows, including the Nationals". High praise indeed from fellow modellers.
