The Hound of the BaskervillesOur club stand at the 99 IPMS Telford show was to feature "Milton Keynes goes to the Movies". My theme as chosen because I had an unpainted figure of Sherlock Holmes, bought at the Baker Street memorabilia shop. For Dr. Watson I had an old Scalextric spectator, which needed re-modelling using Milliput for the crown of his hat and to make lapels and new pockets. Card was used for the hat brim. He looked quite good. The hound as harder, I could not find a suitable dog, even in my granddaughters toy box. So I used a copper wire frame, bent it up and covered with Milliput, forming a very ugly hound. The guy in the bog - one hand only - is also Milliput. The base was a wooden bowl got from a charity shop for 50p. I worked thick plaster into this, hollowing it out in the middle and planted old bristles from a brush in while still soft. After painting with acrylics I poured Johnsons Klear into the middle to form a sweet bog. I was very pleased with the end result and it made a great change from the normal modelling subjects.
